Tomorrow begins our first day of online learning. I wanted to share some guidelines for what to expect from your Junior High Staff.
First, please remember that this is a very fluid process and will take us some time to adjust. We understand that you are also adjusting to working from home and balancing parenting and work. Our teachers have designed lessons that students should be able to access on their own through Google Classroom. We ask that you assist your student in staying focused on doing school work and review with them the importance of having a positive online presence. Please encourage your student to be a problem solver and utilize communication skills. Help them advocate for themselves. Click here to see the district Acceptable Use Policy regarding the use of technology. It will be helpful to establish a routine with scheduled school work time and scheduled breaks. You can expect students to focus on each subject for approximately 30 minutes a day. Those 30 minutes do not have to be within the school day unless otherwise requested from a teacher.
Second, all links to Google Classrooms are accessible on the Junior High Website or here. It will be helpful for you to know your student’s username and password. Teachers will be using Google Classroom to communicate learning expectations to your student. Logging in with your student’s username and password will be the most efficient way for you to see your student’s progress. Organizing assignment due dates using Google Calendar will be beneficial. Assignments are required and will be graded. If you have questions about an assignment, please encourage your student to email the teacher and expect a reply within 24 hours during the week.
Third, if your student is struggling with mental health concerns, be sure to access the resources the district has made available here.
Lastly, we miss seeing your students. As we all adjust to these new regulations, please remind your students that we are committed to helping them be successful!
Dear 8th Grade Parents,
After much discussion and with the support of the Buckeye Board of Education and Nowak Tours, the class of 2024 Washington DC trip has been rescheduled. The Class of 2024 will travel November 4th - November 6th, 2020. With this rescheduled trip, new deadlines and policies are in place.
Please note that the trip is not cancelled but rather rescheduled. Students and chaperones who have already paid their fees are set to travel in the Fall. No further action is required at this time if you still plan for your child to travel. Roommate selection, departure time and other pertinent details will be distributed to students in the Fall through high school channels of communication.
Since there is a reschedule date, families requesting refunds will be reviewed after all refund requests have been made. Unfortunately, our contractual obligation is based on the number of students attending the trip. Therefore, we need to determine how many students are expecting to attend in the Fall to ensure the trip is a success. If your student cannot attend in the Fall, please complete this form by March 29, 2020 to request a refund. The amount of the refund is dependent upon the number of requests we receive due to contractual obligations with vendors providing services associated with the trip. Currently, no refunds have been processed: you must use the form.
While rescheduling is not in my control, the District wants the Class of 2024 to have the curricular and social experiences that traveling to our Nation’s capital provides. I appreciate your understanding and flexibility with the change in our travel plans.

Dear 7th Grade Parents,
After much discussion and support of the Buckeye Local School Board and Nowak Tours, the class of 2025 Cleveland Trip has been cancelled. It was with much disappointment that I made this decision, but it was with an abundance of caution that the decision was made. Our current CoVid-19 guidance from the state and national governments is still in flux. However, I felt at this time, canceling the trip was in our best interests. Any monies received will be refunded through a check in the mail.
