Message from the Superintendent (Solar Eclipse Information)

Good evening, this is Kent Morgan, Superintendent of Buckeye Local Schools. Monday, August 21st is the first day of school and as you are probably well aware the same day as the solar eclipse. I wanted to let you know how Buckeye is addressing the safety concerns associated with the solar eclipse.

Buckeye Primary and Buckeye Intermediate schools will not allow students to go outside after 12:45 pm until it is time for dismissal.

Buckeye Junior High will allow students with signed parent permission slips to safely view the eclipse. No students will be outside after 12:45 pm unless viewing the eclipse until dismissal.

Buckeye High School is not viewing the eclipse and no students will be allowed outside after 12:45 pm until dismissal.

There will be no outdoor athletic practices/contests until 4:00pm due to the eclipse between 1:00pmĀ4:00pm. Please pay attention to your coaches' communication about any potential changes in schedules.

Please remind your children not to look at the sun as they are dismissed from school.

Thank you and enjoy the last bit of summer vacation.
